Detention was as always a drag. I knew the drill pretty well since it wasn’t the first time I had ended up there for challenging Eddie. But I also had this sadistic satisfaction in me that Eddie had been suspended. I knew Frank was sitting up there on some cloud and cheering for me. At dot four p.m I got off and was quite surprised to see Kim, Bill and Tom waiting outside the school for me. They didn’t have their bags so I presumed they had come from home.

“What are you doing here?”

“Waiting for you obviously” Kim replied grinning from ear to ear.

“So saved my life, of course we’d wait for you”

“Stop being a drama queen” Bill cut him

“What am I giving you a complex?” Tom bickered, while Kim laughed watching them fight like perfect twins.

I looked up at Bill and smiled, he smiled back, and looking very sweet with a cap pulled over his head. He actually reminded me of a pixie

They dropped me off to my place and very spontaneously Kim decided to stay with me. The Kaulitz twins went there own way after talking about random stuff with us.

“They invited us for dinner tomorrow night” Kim informed, slumping herself on the couch. I took my place besides the couch on my bean bag.

“So?”

“So, you’re coming with me, because they invited both of us.”

“Sorry Kim, but you’ll have to go alone, I’m not interested”

“Not interested in being friends or not interested in going for dinner?”

“Neither of them, I am fine by the turn of events”

“Really, then why did you help Tom in the morning?”

“For your sake”

“Then for my sake come for the dinner”



Kim’s *POV*

Convincing Alex to come to the twins’ house was like my new mission in life. I wasn’t so sure to why I wanted to go to the invite so badly, but I just did and I wanted to tag Alex along with me, otherwise she would’ve spent that much time crying. Since she does that anyway, I wasn’t really cutting her off anything.
“You will come for my sake, Alex. Please” I begged, making really large eyes, like that of a puppy

“Oh Kim, fine, I’ll come. “She said more out of irritation I guess, because I was forcing her so much.

I did my war dance, jumping around the hall like a tribal. I was glad to see her laughing again. I spent some more time with her, anxious for the next day to arrive. I couldn’t help but admit that Tom was highly good looking, and even more flirtatious. He just did something to me the first time I had seen him. Maybe he was a part of the reason why I wanted to meet them at dinner so badly. The other part was hoping that for sometime, Alex would forget Frank.

The next day came and went, and I didn’t have a clue to what I did in all my classes! Tom and Bill seemed happy when I told them we would make it. They in fact offered to come and pick us up from Alex’s place, which I obviously agreed to as well. I told Alex the whole plan later after school ended. She gave me a very scary look when I told her they’ll pick us up from her house, but thankfully she didn’t blast me for it.

At the promised time in the evening Bill and Tom landed on the main door. Tom wore an extra large white round neck on top of another extra large and longer black shirt, with really loose jeans while Bill, being completely opposite wore a tight black shirt and straight blue coloured jeans.
I realized then, how similar Bill and Alex actually were. Except for the height and skin color, maybe, they could look like twins! She was a good 10 inches shorter than Bill, and where he was fair, she had a dusky skin tone, something like a natural tan. Other than that they had identical stuff going on - a permanent fetish for black and skulls, rock music, straight black hair, the dark eye pencil. I missed Alex that way, cause ever since Frank's death, she had become a pale and lifeless reflection of what she used to be.

I hurried her out of the house, with Mrs. Williams’s permission. Luckily, she was as onto bringing her daughter back to life as I was. And I was pretty sure she’d be happier if her daughter fell in love again.


Bill’s *POV*

The car ride was excruciating. No one spoke at all! And for someone like me who loves to speak, it was hard to keep shut. So I found an alternative. I switched on Green Day, much to Tom's annoyance, but thankfully Kim and Alex liked them, so he had no other option but to stay shut. Alex had a wonderful voice, as she sang along to the lyrics of wake me up when September ends, but I didn’t comment, in case she drew up that 6 ft wall around her again. I watched her sing and with each passing moment a feeling sank deeper inside me. It felt like I had known her forever. She caught me staring at her and I dropped my eyes immediately, feeling red in the face.

We finally reached home, and I was glad to see how informal Kim was. She was so cool about it; not shying away, waiting for us to ask her to come in. She was just the type of girl Tom liked, laid back and chilled out. Alex followed in, looking a bit apprehensive. Tom and I entered after them.

Each of us found a seat for ourselves. Kim took the most comfortable couch and ale took the toughest metal chair. Tom and I sat on the other couch.

“Okay so what do you want?” Tom asked. “We aren’t exactly the serving the type, so if you need anything you’ll have to tell us.”

“I’ll have water first” Kim replied giggling at Tom's announcement.

I let him do those honors, because honestly speaking I wanted to look at Alex. She was sitting so elegantly on that chair, she made it look like that chair was the most comfortable piece of furniture.

Tom coughed while passing me. I wanted to slap his ass, but manners stopped me.

We moved our location from the hall to the seating are right in front of the kitchen, so that getting stuff wouldn’t seem like a chore.

“Do you have anything sweet to eat?” Alex suddenly asked.

“Yeah…loads of chocolate in the fridge”

“No, not chocolate…even normal sugar would do”

“Of course we do. We have candies…strawberry and peppermint flavor” Tom replied. ”Want me to get them?”

Ha, bastard he never offers to bring me candy when I want it!

She declined his helped and got up to help herself. He gave her directions to the cabinets before she got up. I watched her leave like walking in a dream. She had such a poetic walk screaming melancholic tunes from ever inch of her body. My eyes followed her all the way into the open kitchen. Our eyes met, for the first time, with such intensity. I could see nothing else but her graciously beautiful brown eyes. I felt a shooting pain in my head, while looking at her, she wanted to repulse me away, but begged her to see me as a friend and not as a foe. In a seconds time her look softened, and before I knew it she was on the ground.

Kim’s *POV*

Alex asked for sugar and I knew things were a bit wrong, because she never asked for plain sugar unless she wanted to cry. It was a weird thing really, but nonetheless, sugar kept her happy. What the hell sugar kept me happy.

But I hadn’t anticipated the things to go so wrong. Even before opening any of the cabinets, she fainted. It took me a few seconds to realize what had happened. I thought she had slipped, until Bill told us that she had fainted. I ran into the kitchen, to see her lying lifeless on the floor, a thin line of blood coming from her temple.

“Holy fuck!” Tom screamed

Bill picked her up in his arms and put her down on his bed, which wasn’t too far from the kitchen

I grabbed some wet towels and removed all the blood from her face. She was burning hot. God knows what had happened to her.

“Bill do me a favor; please get some ice cold water in anything you can find and some more towels, please”

He scrambled about to do that, while Tom sat besides me. I tried to keep my calm, but having my best friend unconscious on one side and the guy, who made my heart flutter with sudden excitement, sitting on the other side was not the best mixture for even thinking about calm. Tom put a hand around my shoulder, as I wiped an isolated tear off my face. Bill came with the water and the towels. I dipped it in the water and put it on her forehead. I had seen Frank do that so many times to her and had done it myself, that I had become an expert at it. Small things got to her, and I wondered what had happened this time to make this happen.

Side by side I bandaged her wound as well. It wasn’t too large, but large enough to let it bleed.

“Maybe you should take a medical career” Tom joked

I smiled at him and shrugged hoping Alex would recover soon. Bill and Tom took seats close to the bed. The time was spent in silence until the clock struck 8 p.m and Tom asked if we wanted to eat food. I declined it, looking at Alex

“She’ll be fine” Bill said sweetly and gave me his hand. I was so confused, but I agreed to have food.

It was an elaborate dinner. So many wonderful things were laid out on the table that I couldn’t stop myself from gasping.

“You better not think that I am finishing the whole thing.” I said

“Don’t worry if you won't we will” Tom grinned

Looking by his size, I presumed he was joking, because to me it looked like he was severely underfed. Bill was even thinner, which was even scarier.
Over the dinner Tom asked me about Alex, as to why she was the way she was. I didn’t have an answer, because I didn’t think she wanted to tell them yet about Frank.

“It’s best if you ask her that, because I am not allowed to speak about it. “


Bills *POV*

Cold water and towels were the two most unlikely things to ask for; when a person was bleeding from her head, but I got them nonetheless and only then did I realize what Kim had asked them for. Tom and I became silent spectators after that. Alex was pale as a ghost and I worried for her still. The pain in my head had stopped, but her eyes were permanently printed somewhere in my mind. I wanted to know each and ever secret they had ever held. I was lost in my own world by then to surface out only when Tom asked her to eat dinner.

“She’ll be fine” I said to her giving my hand.

Thankfully she agreed to join us. Tom cracked his usual jokes on which only Kim could laugh, because seriously they were beyond me. All through the dinner I felt restless, like something was up with Alex. I kept that repressed until I couldn’t take the jittery feeling any longer. I got up, with my meal half finished, and went to my room, where she was.
I relaxed a bit when I saw her sitting up and called both Kim and Tom inside.

Kim ran and hugged her, being very careful not to hurt her, silent tears flowing from both their eyes. I felt a mixture of emotions which I couldn’t understand. Why this all for a girl I had met a week ago. It seemed so crazy.

“Do you need anything to eat Alex?” I asked

She replied she wasn’t feeling too up to it so I left it at that.

“I think we should leave” Kim said much to my surprise. Tom scolded her

“Are you crazy? You two aren’t moving from here until tomorrow morning. It’s a Saturday and you needn’t worry about anything, but I am not letting you go home in this condition. Shame on you Kim for even suggesting it. “

“We don’t want to trouble you” Alex said

“Bullshit, you’re not troubling us.” I asserted. “You two can stay in this room. Tom and I can go into the other one.”

And without hearing another word we left the girls alone. I knew Tom wanted to beat me up for saying we’d share the room, but it wasn’t the first time and it wasn’t going to be the last.



Tom’s *POV*

“Bullshit, you’re not troubling us.” Bill spoke. “You two can stay in this room. Tom and I can go into the other one.”

He was NOT going to stay in the room with me. No. no. NEVER.

After he shut the door to his room I stopped him from entering mine.

“Out on the couch you may go, but not into my room”

“Whoever gave you the idea you can bully me?” he said narrowing his eyes

“Myself” I replied giving him narrower eyes. He poked me in the stomach with his fingers making me squeak and double over laughing. He grinned as well and followed me inside.

So, we have two girls sleeping in the house, but not with us, god what a shame!”

Bill gave me that classic disgusted look of his. I loved it when he made that face, it gave me peace.

“Think of stuff other than sex Tom, may lead to a better place in the future” he replied “but yes it is a shame”

As innocent as he might try to portray himself, Bill was a bastard too and that’s what I liked him for, because we balanced each other out. Where he was an ass, I would be relatively better of, and wherever I become a bastard, he becomes the innocent one.

“So how deep in love have you fallen?” I asked. He knew exactly what I meant. He had to, otherwise I would’ve tagged him an idiot.

“It seems weird Tom; I haven’t even known her for a week. And that too we don’t have any friendship either, I mean I haven’t spoken to her properly or anything!”

“I know I feel that too. It’s odd” I wanted to chew back those words. I was pretty sure Bill already knew what was going inside my head, but I wasn’t ever known for spilling my thoughts out.

“AHA! So you do like Kim” he said accusatorily.

“I never said that”

“You meant it”

“Well yeah, she’s pretty and sweet and funny. I like her” I admitted

“Finally someone normal.” Bill smirked and I knew what that meant for sure.

Saturday was as normal as normal could get. Nothing irritated me, apart from the small cut on my head which was undetectable due to my hair falling on my face. But the normalness ended when in the evening Kim, Bill and Tom came over yet again and literally abducted me and took me to the mall, in Tom's black Cadillac. He was driving, so it was obvious Kim would take the front seat. They had gelled really well, but there was something really repulsive about Tom. He wasn’t necessarily mean, but he thought too much of himself, and that in my vocabulary was synonymous with being a jack ass.

“I haven’t been here in ages! Kim squeaked getting out of the car. Tom parked it nearby and stood next to the jumping Kim. While all this happened, a really pretty girl passed by us, and Tom did his usual Casanova style, trying to flirt with the stranger. He did receive a smile from the girl, but also a whack from Kim on his head.

“Bad Tom, bad” she laughed and ran into the mall with Tom running behind her. Bill went in shrugging and smiling to himself while I walked leisurely inside. I was the last person to enter the gates and when I did I found myself in a rather unwanted situation.

“Where did Kim and your brother go?” I asked Bill who was the only recognizable person in the area.

“Toy shop”
Tom and toys just didn’t seem right, and I think Bill read it off my face.

“He likes his teddy bears. He still sleeps with the one I gave him for our 10th birthday.”

“You have to be kidding me”

“No. I’m being very serious. He tries to be like a cool guy, and succeeds at it, but he’s a kid at heart.”

I grasped that bit in with a little bit difficulty, and looked around for something to do. In that much time Bill asked me where I wanted to go.
The first place that clicked in my mind was the music store. He followed me to the second floor, leaving the other two in the toy shop.

The minute I took a step inside the music store I knew I was in a worse fix. It had been my permanent hangout with Frank, Gerard and Mikey, not so much with Kim, and for that reason everyone there knew me. They all were shocked to see me with a new guy, giving me demanding looks, but I shook my head, telling them not to think what they were. For a few minutes I had forgotten Frank was no more and walking by the metal racks, reliving the moments when he had pinned me against those very racks and kissed me, brought the reality back like a thunderclap. I felt that similar urge to cry, but I couldn’t, not in the store anyway.

In the back of the store I saw Celina, glaring at me, with her overdone eyes. She had been Frank's girlfriend before I had come into his life and she hated me.

“I knew you were always a bitch” she shot at me, her face looking like a cabbage patch.

“What do you mean?” I confronted

“Frank's been dead for just two weeks and you already started dating again. So much for love you had for him, boyfriend stealer. Whose was he before dating you? Did you use the ‘I just lost my guy’ card with this poor thing?” she accused pointing at Bill

“He is not my boyfriend Celina and you don’t even know the meaning of love. You left Frank when he was convinced you’d never leave him. You forced him into depression and you tell me!”

“I didn’t leave Frank” she said

“Yeah right you just took a break from him and went into the arms of Eddie right; who you knew was Frank's enemy. In my opinion you are the backstabber.

She stared at me, completely lost for words. I pulled Bill's shirt and dragged him out, before anything could be said to him. After that I just ran. I didn’t remember anything else, but running out of the mall, on the road, into my house and then my room. I was relieved that mom wasn’t there, because then it became a lot easier to just end everything.



Bill's *POV*


What happened in the music store was out of my mind. I couldn’t get a word of what Alex was saying or what that other girl was saying. One name kept on coming up, Frank and from what I could make out he was dead…other than that, it was all very confusing. In a matter of seconds Alex dragged me out of the place and ran. I called after her, but she didn’t stop nor did she look back. I first thought of going to Kim, but feared it might be too late by then, so I ran after her. I felt jittery, like something was terribly wrong and started praying. Breath was caught up in my lungs, but I couldn’t stop. I knew Alex was heading for her house and followed her inside, not even bothering to shut the door behind. She had already locked her room from inside when I reached.

“Alex, open the door” I screamed, breathing rapidly, my heart racing with my breathing.

Silence

“Alex” I banged on the door, but she refused to open. I could hear nothing from inside, and it worried me.

“Alex!” I yelled again “OPEN THE DOOR PLEASE”

I had been standing there for a good five minutes yelling in front of the door, but the scenario didn’t seem to change. I ran around the house and into the backyard. The French windows allowed me to look inside her room and luckily one of them was open, but there was no sign of Alex. I climbed in from the window and crossed the bed only to see blood running down on the floor. Alex was lying in front of the broken mirror, her knuckles bled. I took her hand into mine and realized the bleeding was not so much from her knuckles as it was from the deep gash that was on her wrist. I wanted to yell, as things became hazy around me, but I ordered myself to keep my calm. Her life was in my hands.
