It's real. That was during the Echo awards in 2007. However he didn't surf the crowd to be exact. He jumped into a group of his security and official personnel at the end of the song he was performing which was....come on now people you know this one....He JUMPS at the end....It was Spring Nicht but it was extra special because there was an orchestra accompanying them. Here's the concert footage
Can you imagine if it was the real crowd, poor Bill would've been ripped to shreds and he would've never made it back on stage!!! You can see the girls around the security going crazy! Good job they had big burly men to keep them back and support Bill!
